PVD coating – The process
There are different processes for PVD coating, which can also be combined. We use both the ARC and magnetron sputtering processes.
In the ARC process, the arc, which is applied directly to the target (chromium and zirconium), vaporizes the target material. This combines in a vacuum with the supplied reactive gases and deposits on the substrate. In the magnetron sputtering process, the material is removed from targets by bombardment with ions and with the aid of magnetic fields. This is also deposited on the substrate with the supplied reactive gas and forms the desired metallic layer.
