Metal frames: the advantages of metal for the production of frames

Metal frames are timeless and elegant, as well as being very durable, hard-wearing and shatter-proof. Metal can be cut into all shapes and is extremely robust, making it very easy to work with. Another advantage of metal frames is their low weight, which makes them very comfortable to wear.

As stainless steel has very good mechanical properties for the production of frames, we recommend it as a base material. Stainless steel is known for its high tensile strength and malleability, it is also corrosion-resistant and extremely skin-friendly, which is very advantageous for processing. In addition, stainless steel can be coated in many different color variations, which allows for a wide range of designs.

Metal frames also offer very high quality and excellent resistance to bending and deformation. Stainless steel is also resistant to scratches, impacts, rust and corrosion.

Polyamide frames: The advantages of polyamide for the production of frames

The material polyamide has proven itself for the SLS process for the production of spectacle frames. Polyamide is a thermoplastic and is used in 3D printing polyamide as a fine powder. It can be molded into any shape, even very thin areas can be bent without damaging the polyamide. It can also be easily colored as desired.

When producing frames with polyamide, particular attention is paid to sustainability. Leftover powder from a previous printing process is mixed with new powder in a specific ratio and can therefore be reused. In addition, there is no waste during 3D printing, as frames are produced to order, which is very environmentally friendly. Furthermore, polyamide does not contain any toxic chemicals and does not react with the body.
